Mayor Kathy Catazaro-Perry Kicks Off Resuming In-Person Meetings

The Massillon Lions Club held the first in-person meeting since last fall.  The meeting was held at Santangelo’s Party Center, enabling the Club to get reconvene and follow current social distancing guidelines.

The meeting’s guest speaker was Massillon Mayor, and fellow Massillon Lion, Mayor Kathy Catazaro-Perry presenting on the state of the City of Massillon.  Mayor Kathy discussed the following:

Marketing – Innovation – Social Media:

  • A new text messaging notification app for the City Massillon is sponsored by NIXLE.  To receive messages text the word ‘Massillon’ to 888777.
  • Check out the TV show ‘Massillon Today’ on MCTV Channel 22.
  • The City’s website is updated regularly and being redesigned to be more user friendly and accessible to individuals with disabilities
  • Multiple social media web sites are available to stay updated with City news.

The global pandemic & how the City of Massillon is addressing it

Sidewalk Repair Assistance:

  • By submitting an application to the engineering department, the city of Massillon will cover 50% of the cost (up to $4,000.00)

Road Improvements

Overall City improvement initiatives, including:

  • Downtown Streetscape
  • Revitalization of Duncan Plaza
  • Jake Roberson Memorial Park (2022 opening date).
