Why join the Lions?
“Being a part of an organization that helps people locally and worldwide means a great deal to me plus the friends made over the years as a Massillon Lions club member. One of my favorite memories is of many times working our Candy Days fundraiser is people donating and telling me how much they appreciate the Lions Club because we helped them get eye glasses. It is also very gratifying working with the school kids with our Lazy eye screening in the schools and at veterans events. Ringing bells at Christmas time to help the Salvation Army is important to me. To start every meeting we honor our country, and our God with singing My Country ‘Tis of Thee, the Pledge of Allegiance to our flag and a prayer.”
“I joined the Massillon Lions Club after being a long time member of another service organization in another community. I was immediately impressed by the way the Lions Club touched the community through eye screening students and entertaining through the clubs biggest fund raiser, the Annual Show. Perhaps the most impressive takeaway is the friendships that I’ve made with my fellow Lions. I’ve been a member since 2000 and look forward to many more years of serving the community. My wife Nancy and I have personally been grateful for the monetary support that individual members give to assist the less fortunate families at Christmas. It’s been a different and difficult year for many people in a lot of ways and I will look forward to seeing my fellow Lions in person in the near future. If you are looking to help community, please consider joining our group. You’ll be happy you did.”
My reason for joining the Massillon Lions Club was how much I admired how our Lions Club helped the local community. The Annual Show, Fly the Flags, Vision Screening and the many worthy local charities we donate funds to are a few examples of the Massillon Lions living up to the motto of “We Serve”. So, if you are interested in helping your community and making new friends join our group. We look forward to meeting you.
